Jake Walterhouse and I will be doing a monthly mock draft series up until draft night and this is the first edition. We agreed that, after pick eight, the draft could go in a million different directions, which is both exciting and stressful. Jake had odd-numbered picks and I had even, so yell at the appropriate person as needed. I hope you enjoy this series and make sure to give Jake and myself (@HawksDraftNerd) a follow on Twitter!
1. Oklahoma City Thunder: Jabari Smith Jr.
You could make a legitimate argument for any of the top dawgs here (Holmgren, Banchero, Smith, etc.) I opted for Jabari Smith Jr. to give OKC their cornerstone wing of the future to pair with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander & Josh Giddey. Smith also adds MUCH needed outside shooting ability for the Thunder!
